Peter is a former prosecutor and Bay Street litigator.
Peter spent the first seven years of his legal career at McCarthy Tétrault, where he litigated high-stakes and high-profile disputes for some of the country’s most prominent corporations, institutions, and individuals. He then joined the Ministry of the Attorney General as a Crown Attorney in his hometown of Hamilton where he prosecuted in criminal trials and hearings related to fraud, breach of trust, sexual assault, property crimes, and guns and gangs.
Peter was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces when he was 18 years old as an infantryman. He served in the army while completing his undergrad at Guelph University. At the same time, he worked as an irrigation technician in Hamilton. After undergrad, Peter travelled to northern British Columbia and spent a year working on a diamond drill in the remote backcountry of the province. He then travelled to South Korea where he lived and worked as an elementary school teacher. While in Korea, Peter wrote his LSATs and came back to Canada to attend the University of Windsor
Peter has a diverse background across different industries that give him a unique perspective that he brings to bear in assisting clients. His background in manual labour has taught him a strong work ethic and he understands that results depend on dedication and persistence.
Peter completed a Bachelor of Commerce in management economics at the University of Guelph. He completed his JD in 2015 at the University of Windsor.

Colleen joins leigh.law from the Hamilton Crown Attorney’s office where she worked as a litigation assistant alongside Peter Leigh and other Crown Attorneys prosecuting all manner of criminal proceedings for the Ministry of the Attorney General, Criminal Law Division. Prior to joining the Crown’s office, Colleen worked as a court reporter at Hamilton’s John Sopinka Courthouse where she gained invaluable experience observing and reporting on trials, bail hearings, preliminary hearings, and other court proceedings daily. Colleen’s experience in court and government services gives her a practical perspective and understanding of criminal and civil law procedures and processes which she brings to bear on each of the Firm’s files.
Colleen built on her practical education by attending law school at Bond University in Australia where she obtained her JD with Class 1 Distinction. She participated in Bond’s student government where she was elected Secretary for the Canadian Law Students’ Association, lobbying for Canadian students based on the Association’s priorities, timelines, and objectives. Colleen also graduated with High Distinction from Wilfrid Laurier University, earning a double major in psychology and criminology.
Colleen is a first-generation immigrant and Polish is her first language. Colleen’s parents moved to Canada from Poland in the 1990s and taught her the value of hard-work, persistence, and taking calculated and informed risks.
